Hollywood is reflecting on the life of a beloved actress whose presence helped define television’s golden age. The former model and screen performer passed away peacefully at the age of 92 on January 26 at her home in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, surrounded by family. Her passing marks the end of a chapter that began in the early days of network television and stretched across decades of creativity and quiet influence.

Born Loretta Basham on April 8, 1933, in Beckley, West Virginia, she first stepped into the professional spotlight as a model. Her poise and striking presence soon led her to New York, where she attracted attention from industry insiders eager to see if her talent extended beyond the runway. Determined to build a lasting career, she shifted her focus to acting, embracing the challenge with ambition and discipline.

In the early 1960s, she signed with Universal Studios and landed her first television appearance on The Loretta Young Show. From there, opportunities quickly followed. She became widely recognized for her role as teacher Tina Swenson on NBC’s Tales of Wells Fargo, sharing the screen with Dale Robertson and establishing herself as a dependable and engaging television presence.

Throughout the decade, she accumulated more than 70 television credits. Audiences saw her in popular series such as Bonanza, Wagon Train, Dr. Kildare, and The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet. Her work also extended to film, with appearances in projects including Surf Party and How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. Beyond acting, she demonstrated creative versatility by writing episodes for Bonanza, contributing as a columnist, and later authoring the faith-based book Hearing God.

She shared a 42-year marriage with actor Dean Jones, remaining by his side until his passing in 2015. In her later years, she devoted herself to family, faith, and community, stepping away from the spotlight but never from the values that shaped her life.

The actress remembered for her grace, perseverance, and wide-ranging contributions to entertainment was Lory Patrick. Her legacy lives on not only through her performances but also through the family, creativity, and faith that defined her journey.
